AUGUST PARISH - UNTIL DEVOTION DEVOURS ☆☆☆

Until Devotion Devours explores limerence as an all-consuming state where desire morphs into obsession and possession takes physical form. Drawing from my experience as a Queer and Disabled multidisciplinary artist, this series examines the psychosomatic effects of infatuation and the ways adoration can distort both body and mind, informed by personal experiences living with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Through exaggerated silhouettes, exposed cut-outs and contrasting materials such as leather, knit, faux fur and mesh, the garments visualise the tension between flesh and soul, portraying vulnerability and control.
Influenced by dark theatricality, fashion editorials, movement and the body, this series extends beyond clothing into an immersive multimedia installation incorporating moving image, photography, sound and spatial design. Until Devotion Devours captures the corruption of loving too deeply, the point where devotion becomes corrosive and the psychological takes over.

Child’s Play
Inspired by childhood memories of playing dress up, Child's Play is a ready-to-wear collection that explores the social norms and rules embodied in clothing. This collection blends contrasting elements of classical tailoring and lingerie with bold colours and silhouettes. Deliberately camp and irrational, the collection aims to poke fun at and ridicule the many reasons we dress.
Through the use of calico and spot and cross patterns, this collection chooses to emphasise the materials and techniques of the making process, rather than discarding them before the final step. By playing with the idea that these clothes don't just happen to exist but are rather the result of a culturally constructed and deliberate design process, the collection aims to highlight the similarity between constructed patterns and garments and the culturally constructed norms and social rules of dress.

BETH PATTERSON - MILLIES ʚɞʚɞʚɞ

“Millies is a collection of fashion textiles inspired by the mill workers in Belfast, including my great grandparents who worked in several mills across the North of Ireland. The collection features rusts, browns, greys and blues from the brickwork found at Conway Mill, one of the last standing mills in Belfast and where my great grandparents worked for a period of time. With this project, I aim to connect to my great grandparents and revitalise craft and the importance of textiles.
I have drawn inspiration from traditional weaving and hand knitting techniques such as tartans, twills and cabling. With an emphasis on heritage and su stainability, every fabric in this collection is made from 100% natural fibres, including lambswool, Shetland wool, Donegal wool and hemp. I aimed to produce long-lasting, durable fabrics for outerwear that can be passed down through generations.”
